When the merge button is clicked -
1. the standard letter is copied to a file called tempmerge.doc
2. the data from the matter is output to matterdata.txt
3. parameters are written to c:\slpcaseman.txt
4. word is invoked with a macro embedded in the template file caseman97.dot and does a mail merge between tempmerge.doc and matterdata.rtf
errors might occur if:
1. caseman97.dot can't be found in the documents folder
2. corrupt word files - delete any ~temp files that word leaves open in the documents folder - delete matterdata.rtf - delete tempmerge.doc
3. standard letter can't be found - make sure name is correct with .doc extension - make sure location of documents ends in a \ - if the standard letter for that line is changed on standard events - delete that line from the matter event list then go out and in from matter events - it will be recreated next time with the new name
4. location of word is correct - make sure it ends with \
5. macros are enabled in word - set macro security to low
6. some files are hard coded to exist on c:\ - there must be a c: drive
